Authorities have apprehended Worapot, a 43-year-old suspect, in connection with a gold robbery worth 7.8 million baht (approx. $229,480 USD) from a renowned jewelry store in Bang Pa-in, Ayutthaya.
Meticulously Planned Heist
On March 23, the suspect executed a well-planned robbery, using a firearm to steal gold necklaces weighing 160 baht. CCTV footage revealed that Worapot had surveyed the area in a pickup truck a day before the crime.
After the robbery, he escaped on foot, hired a motorcycle taxi, and returned to his parked vehicle. Police tracked his movements and arrested him in Pathum Thani province.
Investigation and Arrest
Officers recovered stolen gold jewelry and the clothing worn during the heist. Reports indicate Worapot was in debt, owing nearly 500,000 baht ($14,735 USD), which may have been his motive.
A press conference on March 27 will provide further details. Authorities urge the public to report any additional information.
