BUENA VISTA TWP, MI — A 32-year-old woman was arrested for robbing a Dollar General store at knifepoint after fleeing a substance abuse treatment facility.

On Saturday, June 7, shortly after 11 a.m., the suspect entered the Dollar General at 3545 Dixie Highway wearing a pink jacket and brandished a butcher knife, threatening to kill staff while taking several items from the shelves, including Monster Drinks, acrylic nails, T-shirts, a box fan, and feminine hygiene products.

Employees recognized the woman, who had previously been removed from the store. After the robbery, police spotted her near Hess Avenue and Cumberland Street. She discarded the knife and fled but was apprehended shortly after.

The stolen items, valued at $91.65, and the knife were recovered by police. The woman refused to identify herself initially, but officers used fingerprint scanning for identification.

She was arraigned on Monday morning by Saginaw County District Judge A.T. Frank on a charge of armed robbery, a life offense. Woods had previously been court-ordered in February to complete residential treatment through the county’s TRI-CAP program, which offers supervised rehabilitation as an alternative to incarceration.

Woods had escaped from the treatment facility and had outstanding bench warrants for fleeing the program and failing to appear for sentencing on a previous misdemeanor larceny conviction.

Her bond was set at $25,000, and a preliminary examination is scheduled for June 27.
