JANESVILLE, Wis. – Two suspects were arrested in southern Wisconsin after allegedly stealing a vehicle from a gas station with a 2-year-old child inside. The incident took place on December 13 at the Stop N Go in the 700 block of Center Avenue in Janesville.

Officers were called to the scene around 4:35 p.m. after reports of the stolen vehicle. As officers responded, they learned that a witness had found the abandoned child on the side of Riverside Street, still in their car seat and unharmed.

Law enforcement agencies quickly joined forces to track down the suspects. Within minutes, the stolen vehicle was located heading southbound on Afton Road toward Beloit. The suspects, later identified as Kristopher Klein and Neanni Bowman, were safely apprehended.

Both Klein and Bowman now face several charges, including operating a vehicle without the owner’s consent, abduction of a child, child abandonment, and multiple counts of bail jumping.

The City and Town of Beloit Police Departments, Rock County Sheriff’s Office, and Wisconsin State Patrol assisted the Janesville Police Department in locating and arresting the suspects.
