A Wildwood woman, Heather Nicole Hersh, was arrested for trespassing and charged with resisting arrest after officers were forced to take her to the ground during a confrontation.
According to the Wildwood Police Department’s report, an officer responded to a call about a trespasser on the 1400 block of Huey Street around 10 a.m. Wednesday. Upon arrival, the officer identified 39-year-old Hersh, who was wearing a light gray jacket and tan pants. The property’s maintenance employee, who had the authority to manage access to the property, informed the officer that Hersh had been banned from the location.
The officer instructed Hersh to stand and place her hands behind her back. When she refused, the officer attempted to grab her right wrist, and another officer grabbed her left wrist. Hersh attempted to walk away and resisted multiple attempts at handcuffing. The officers struggled to restrain her, eventually taking her to the ground. Despite being told to stop resisting, Hersh continued to stiffen her arms and try to pull away. The officers successfully placed her hands behind her back and handcuffed her.
Hersh was charged with trespassing and resisting an officer without violence. She was transported to the Sumter County Detention Center, where her bond was set at $1,000.
This is not Hersh’s first run-in with the law. In 2024, she was arrested for showering at a local RV resort, and in 2023, she was found sleeping in a truck with drugs at Lakeside Landings. In 2021, she was arrested for an unpaid tab at Longhorn Steakhouse and for an incident where she chased a roommate with a knife.
