Waverly Man Arrested for Stealing ATM from The Beach House

A 45-year-old man from Waverly was arrested on January 3, 2025, after allegedly stealing an ATM machine from The Beach House, a popular bar in downtown Waverly. Jerry S. Hoge faces third-degree burglary charges in connection with the theft.

The incident took place on January 2, when police responded to a report of the theft around 8:17 a.m. Officers learned that an ATM had been removed from the bar located on East Bremer Avenue. Security footage of the crime was widely shared on social media after an employee posted it.

Police executed search warrants and are continuing the investigation, with additional charges pending. Hoge was taken into custody and booked into the Bremer County Jail. The theft of an entire ATM is rare, and witnesses in the area reported seeing the suspect.

If convicted, Hoge could face up to five years in prison and fines ranging from $750 to $7,500.
