The Gurugram police have successfully arrested Dinesh Ahirwar, a wanted criminal who had been on the run for 16 years, in connection with a murder case. Ahirwar was accused of killing his friend in 2009 over a money-related dispute. After murdering his friend, he set the body on fire and went into hiding, continuously changing his location over the years.

Ahirwar, a native of Damoh in Madhya Pradesh, had been evading capture since the murder. He worked as a mason in various locations, including Rewari and Chandigarh, to avoid detection. The police, acting on a tip-off, tracked him down and arrested him in Damoh on Friday.

Dinesh Ahirwar had been on the wanted list for years, with a reward of Rs 5,000 offered for any information leading to his capture. His arrest was carried out by a team led by SI Deepak Kumar, under the supervision of ACP Lalit Dalal (Crime 2).

Ahirwar’s long escape has now come to an end, and further investigation into the murder case is underway.
