In a swift and coordinated operation, the Vizianagaram police arrested a 21-year-old man, Burili Adinarayana, accused of attempting to murder an 18-year-old woman, Kondru Akhila, at Sivaram village in Garividi mandal. The arrest was made just hours after the crime took place on April 5.
Superintendent of Police (SP) Vakul Jindal briefed the media, stating that Burili Adinarayana attacked Kondru Akhila with a knife while she was busy with household chores at her home. Upon hearing her screams, locals rushed to the scene, which caused the attacker to flee the area.
To apprehend the accused, the police quickly formed five special teams, and both the clues team and the dog squad were deployed to collect technical evidence from the crime scene. The quick response by the police was instrumental in locating and arresting the suspect in a matter of hours.
In his confession, Burili Adinarayana admitted that he knew the victim as a friend of his brothers and had considered her a sister. However, the relationship reportedly soured due to allegations involving inappropriate messages on Instagram. This dispute over social media led to the violent attack on Kondru Akhila.
