The Vizianagaram One Town police cracked a major job fraud racket that scammed unemployed youth by promising government jobs in the Andhra Pradesh Secretariat. Four gang members were arrested, and Rs 6 lakh was recovered from them, while a total of nine suspects have been identified.
DSP M Srinivas Rao revealed at a press briefing that the gang collected Rs 53 lakh from seven victims across multiple districts including Hyderabad, Vijayawada, Guntur, Jangareddygudem, and Vizianagaram. Each victim paid between Rs 5 lakh to Rs 8 lakh, hoping to secure positions at the State Secretariat.
The gang operated by creating fake appointment letters and identity cards, and even took victims to the Secretariat in Amaravati. Key accused Sujeeth, from Pradeep Nagar in Vizianagaram, played a major role by keeping victims at a hotel near Velagapudi Secretariat, providing meals and convincing them their appointments were legitimate. Victims only realized the scam when they discovered the addresses on appointment letters were fake.
The case came to light after a complaint by Vinod from Dharmavaram, prompting CI Srinivas and SI Prasanna Kumar to track and arrest the culprits. The arrested include Mahesh (Vizianagaram), Rubin (Jangareddygudem), John (Eluru), and Yakub. Prime suspect Sujeeth is undergoing medical treatment, while police continue searching for the remaining accused.
