by Ananya Mehta

The Nolambur police arrested two teenagers, including a juvenile, on Sunday for attempting to steal the battery from a minivan parked along the roadside. The vehicle’s owner, K Ram Senthil, 37, had left his minivan parked while he visited a friend. Upon returning in the evening, he was shocked to find two teenagers trying to remove the battery.

As Senthil shouted for help, the suspects fled the scene, but with the help of alert residents, the duo was quickly chased and captured. They were handed over to the Nolambur police, who later identified the suspects as a 17-year-old juvenile and V Viswa, 19, a resident of Mogappair East. The police seized tools left behind by the suspects.

Viswa has been remanded to judicial custody at Puzhal prison, while the juvenile was sent to the correctional facility for boys and girls in Kellys on Monday.
