In a disturbing case from Hyderabad, 30-year-old Vijay Topa has been arrested for the murder of his partner, 33-year-old Tara Bohara, whose body was found stuffed in a suitcase in Bachupally on June 4.
Police investigations revealed that the couple, both of Nepali origin, had been living in a live-in relationship since April after meeting on Facebook. Bohara, a mother of two and previously married, moved to Hyderabad to be with Topa. However, the relationship soon turned turbulent after she became pregnant.
According to police, Topa pressured Bohara to have an abortion, but she refused. This led to frequent arguments, culminating in Topa strangling her with a nylon rope on May 23 during one such dispute.
The next day, Topa purchased a trolley suitcase from a store in Kukatpally, placed Bohara’s body inside, and abandoned it in a secluded forested area in Bachupally.
Locals discovered the suspicious suitcase on June 4 and informed the police. A special investigation team reviewed CCTV footage from 70 bag stores and traced the purchase back to Topa. He was arrested on Thursday and confessed to the murder during interrogation.
The case is currently under further investigation, and police are also examining whether Topa had any prior criminal history.
