Varun Arrested for Stealing Cash from Delhi Temple for Purchases

Man Confesses to Burglary, Spent Stolen Money on Laptop, Utensils

Delhi Police have arrested a 20-year-old man, Varun, for allegedly stealing cash from the donation box of Shree Ram Mandir Trust in Sultanpuri and using the money to purchase a second-hand laptop and kitchen appliances.

The theft took place when Varun broke into the temple’s donation box, taking a significant amount of cash. A complaint was filed on March 4, prompting an investigation by the police.

Police reviewed CCTV footage and activated their informants, leading to the arrest of Varun from the Raj Park area on Wednesday. During interrogation, Varun confessed to the burglary and disclosed that he used the stolen money to buy a second-hand laptop worth Rs 10,000, a juicer-mixer-grinder for Rs 2,800, and steel utensils worth Rs 7,000.

Authorities recovered the stolen items, including Rs 3,990 in cash, as part of their investigation. Deputy Commissioner of Police (Outer), Sachin Sharma, revealed that Varun is also linked to another theft in the Raj Park area, where he stole brass utensils and sold them.
