Varanasi Man Arrested for Attempted ATM Theft in Barwani

A resident of Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh, was arrested early on Tuesday while attempting to steal money by breaking open an ATM in Julwania, Barwani district.

According to Ram Kumar Patil, the in-charge of Julwania police station, police received reports of a vandalism sound coming from the ATM kiosk located on the old Agra-Mumbai national highway in Julwania. A police patrol team, which was nearby, quickly responded to the scene and caught the accused in the act of trying to break open the ATM.

The suspect, identified as Amit alias Vishal Kumar from Varanasi, had successfully damaged the shutter of the ATM machine and was attempting to break the digital lock when the police arrived. When questioned, he attempted to mislead the officers with fabricated stories, but he was swiftly arrested.

Amit alias Vishal Kumar was presented before the court and granted a one-day police remand for further investigation.
