Three individuals have been arrested for the theft that took place at the vacant house of former state home minister and Congress MLA Bala Bachchan in Kansel village, located under the jurisdiction of Palsud Police Station.
The Barwani Superintendent of Police, Jagdish Dabar, confirmed the arrests of the alleged masterminds: Uday Singh alias Goldy Bhuria (29), Sanju alias Sanjay Malvi, and Manju Bai Dangar. The police also seized Rs 50,000 in cash and jewellery worth Rs 2.60 lakh from the accused.
However, two other accused, residents of Indore, are still absconding.
Dabar revealed that Uday Singh, a resident of Segaon (Barwani), had been involved in 29 criminal cases, including theft. In the last week of January, Uday Singh and his accomplices broke into the former minister’s house, making off with Rs 4.5 lakh in cash and gold jewellery worth Rs 5 lakh. Some of the stolen jewellery was handed over to Manju Bai, who lives in Ujjain, to sell it. Manju Bai kept a ring for herself and gave the rest to Sanju Malvi.
The arrested individuals were produced in court on Sunday, where they were sent to judicial custody.
