Thudiyalur police arrested 27-year-old U Solomon on Thursday, wanted for over 15 burglary cases. The police seized Rs1.20 lakh in cash and five sovereigns of gold from him.
Solomon, a resident of Elk Hill near Ooty, was involved in a major burglary that occurred on September 22 in Peelamedu police jurisdiction. Solomon, along with his accomplices from Karumathampatti and Kovilpalayam, stole Rs1.20 lakh in cash, five sovereigns of gold, and a car. During his escape, Solomon crashed the car near the 5th hairpin bend on the Pollachi-Valparai road and fractured his right hand. He fled the scene and took a bus to Thudiyalur. Upon noticing the car, Valparai police alerted Peelamedu police, who tracked him down and arrested him on Thursday. He was later remanded to Coimbatore Central prison.
In another case, J Hariharan, 19, along with his friends A Balu (25) and B Anand (19), were involved in a robbery in Valparai, where they stole Rs200 from a second-year BCom student, V Vetrivel, at knife-point. Police launched a manhunt and during a chase, Hariharan fell into a tea estate and fractured his hand. He was already facing charges related to a ganja case and theft.
