Two Chesterfield County teachers have been arrested and charged with multiple counts related to child pornography and child exploitation, according to Colonial Heights police.
On August 22, Richard Franklin Troshak III, 33, of North Chesterfield, was arrested at his workplace, Chester Early Childhood Learning Academy. He is facing eight felony counts of manufacturing child pornography and two counts of indecent liberties with a child.
This arrest follows the earlier case of Shaun Jason Adams, 49, an English teacher at Elizabeth Davis Middle School, who was arrested in July after being caught taking photos of a child in a restroom at Regal Cinemas inside Southpark Mall. After an investigation, detectives found child sexual abuse material in his phone. He has now been charged with 25 additional counts of manufacturing child sexual assault material and five counts of indecent liberties.
Both men are being held without bond at Riverside Regional Jail and await court proceedings in Colonial Heights General District Court.
In response, Chesterfield County Public Schools Superintendent John Murray announced the immediate termination of both teachers, initiated a joint investigation with local police and Child Protective Services, and placed the CECLA principal and assistant principal on leave. Internal interviews with staff are underway to ensure proper reporting procedures were followed.
Authorities urge anyone with relevant information to contact the Chesterfield County Police Department immediately.
