Two Arrested with Heroin and Opium Worth Rs 4.5 Crore in Silchar

Police seize 847 grams of heroin, opium from vehicle in Salchapra

In a major drug bust, the Cachar Police arrested two individuals and seized heroin and opium valued at Rs 4.5 crore in Salchapra, near Silchar town, on Tuesday evening.

According to Cachar SP Numal Mahatta, the police carried out an operation in the area and intercepted a vehicle. Upon searching, the police discovered 72 soap cases containing 847 grams of heroin and four packets containing opium.

The two arrested individuals have been identified as Md Amo Khan (47) from Bishnupur district of Manipur and Md Salim (28) from Mantripukhuri, Imphal East. The heroin and opium seized in this operation are valued at an estimated Rs 4.5 crore in the illegal market.

The arrests are part of the ongoing efforts by the police to curb the growing drug trade in the region. Both individuals are being questioned, and further investigations are ongoing.
