CHEROKEE COUNTY, Ala. — The Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office recently responded to a report of a stolen boat in the Little River community. The Sheriff’s Office deployed both UAV (drone) and Water Patrol resources in the search for the missing vessel.

The efforts paid off when Water Patrol located a boat near the Driftwood Campground area that matched the description of the stolen property. On board the boat were Sonny James Rucker and Timothy Paul White, both of whom were taken into custody.

Through their investigation, deputies determined that Timothy White was the individual responsible for stealing the boat and later picking up Rucker. Further checks revealed that Sonny Rucker had active arrest warrants.

Both suspects were arrested without incident. White faces charges of theft of property, while Rucker was arrested on his outstanding warrants. The stolen boat was recovered and returned to its rightful owner.

Sheriff Shaver commended the team for their quick response and the successful use of technology, saying, “This is a great example of how our team uses technology and proactive patrols to protect our communities and recover stolen property.”
