Arunachal Police have busted a vehicle theft racket operating within the Tomo Riba Institute of Health and Medical Sciences (TRIHMS) campus, arresting three members while a fourth accomplice remains on the run.

The investigation began after a complaint was filed on November 19, 2025, reporting repeated break-ins from vehicles parked in the hospital. CCTV footage led police to a suspect moving suspiciously near the cars.

The first accused, Md. Anwar Hussain (29), S/o Ramjan Ali of Fatehpur, Laluk PS, Lakhimpur, Assam, was caught pretending to be a patient in a hospital bed to evade arrest. His interrogation helped police trace and apprehend Md. Sheikh (33), S/o Lt. Suleman Sheikh, Dharmopur No.1, Laluk PS, and Jakir Hussain (20), S/o Kobber Hussain, Karunabari, Laluk PS, from Panchayat Colony.

Police reported that the gang targeted vehicles across hospitals, markets, offices, and residential areas, exploiting unlocked doors or slightly open windows to steal cash and valuables.

Efforts are ongoing to track the fourth member. Superintendent of Police, ICR, Dr. Nyelam Nega, APPS, advised the public to secure vehicles properly and report suspicious activity immediately to local police or dial 112.
