BASSETT, VA — April 17, 2025 — A routine traffic stop turned into a major drug and weapons bust Thursday afternoon after the Henry County Sheriff’s Office Drug Interdiction Unit pulled over a vehicle in the 1000 block of Crestridge Road.

The driver, Darian Rayburn Tatum, 51, and passenger Stacey Rea Biggs, 31, both of Critz, Virginia, were arrested on multiple felony charges. Both had outstanding warrants, including one for Tatum from Martinsville for tampering with a drug screening, and another for Biggs from Patrick County for failure to appear and drug distribution.

A search of the vehicle—prompted by a K-9 alert from narcotics dog Zajo—uncovered:

A SCCY 9mm handgun

Multiple bags of suspected methamphetamine and fentanyl

Digital scales, packaging materials

$913 in cash

Both suspects were charged with possession with intent to distribute a Schedule I/II drug, and Tatum faces additional firearms and driving-related offenses. Biggs was also charged with providing false ID.

Both are being held without bond at the Henry County Adult Detention Center. Authorities said this operation is part of an ongoing effort to reduce illegal drug and firearm activity in the area.
