In a major breakthrough in the murder case of 50-year-old businessman Biju Joseph, police have arrested two more individuals. Joseph, who had been missing since Thursday morning, was later found dead in a manhole inside a catering godown in Kalayanthani. The police confirmed the arrest on Sunday.
Joseph, a resident of Chungam, Thodupuzha, had gone for a morning walk on Thursday and did not return home. His family filed a missing person report the following day. Investigations later revealed that Joseph had been abducted and murdered.
The first arrest in the case was made on Jomon, 50, Joseph’s former business partner from Kalayanthani. The duo had been involved in several joint business ventures, but Joseph had allegedly refused to pay Jomon his due share despite multiple requests. Authorities suspect Jomon hired a gang of three individuals from Kochi to carry out the abduction.
Following this, two more individuals, Mohammed Aslam, 36, of Ernakulam, and Jomin Kurian, 25, of Kannur, who had already been in custody, were formally arrested. With these arrests, the total number of people apprehended in connection with the case has risen to three.
The investigation is ongoing as authorities work to uncover the full details of the crime.
