Three Arrested for Illegal Sale of Painkillers in Poigai Village

600 Tapentadol tablets seized on Chennai-Bengaluru Highway

Police arrested three men involved in the illegal sale of painkiller tablets near Poigai village on Friday. The accused have been identified as G. Kaviarasan (26), N. Elumalai (27), and K. Deepak (26), residents of Mottur and Poigai.

According to authorities, a police patrol intercepted the trio near the Government Higher Secondary School on the Chennai-Bengaluru Highway. Upon searching them, officers found 600 tapentadol tablets, a powerful prescription painkiller often misused, along with 50 syringes.

Further investigations revealed the suspects were selling these tablets to local youths and students. Police seized the tablets, syringes, and the two-wheeler used by the trio.

The arrested individuals are currently in police custody as investigations continue.
