STEELE, Mo. — A southeast Missouri man, Terry McVay, 46, has been arrested following a weeks-long search tied to a shooting and vehicle theft investigation, according to the Steele Police Department.
Authorities said the case began on February 23 after a shooting was reported on Bellevue Street. McVay is accused of firing toward another individual, though no injuries were reported.
Police later connected McVay to a stolen vehicle discovered on March 1 by Police Chief Billy Joe Stanfield. After contacting the vehicle’s owner, it was confirmed stolen, leading to additional charges.
McVay was arrested on March 11 and faces multiple charges, including first-degree assault, unlawful possession of a firearm, armed criminal action, stealing a motor vehicle, and tampering with a motor vehicle. He was held on no-bond warrants.
Authorities say the investigation remains ongoing, and at least one additional arrest may be made.
