Police arrested 26-year-old Tarun Pareek, a BBA graduate and former executive, in connection with a chain snatching incident in Transport Nagar, Jaipur. The accused reportedly stole a gold chain from a 70-year-old woman, Shakuntala, after forcibly entering her home on July 23.
According to Additional DCP (East) Asharam Chaudhary, Tarun, a resident of Lali village in Jamwaramgarh, Jaipur Rural, was tracked down using CCTV footage. The DST team comprising ASI Chhitarmal and constables Dharmendra, Uday Singh, and Jitendra, analyzed surveillance data and created a route chart of the suspect’s bike movements before arresting him on Friday morning.
During interrogation, Tarun confessed to the crime and revealed that he planned the theft due to financial stress following his recent marriage and drug addiction. Once employed in a Mansarovar company, Tarun was forced to quit his job by his family due to his smack addiction.
He claimed that his wife persistently asked for money, which added to his pressure. With no steady income, he decided to commit the chain snatching. The police recovered the stolen gold chain and the bike used in the crime.
The case highlights the disturbing trend of educated youth falling into criminal activities under the weight of addiction and financial burdens.
