SAN JOSE, CA (WCIV) — San Jose police confirmed the arrest of a suspect involved in a January armed robbery where thousands of dollars were stolen from the victim.
On January 24, 2025, at approximately 1:30 p.m., officers responded to a report of an armed robbery at a residence near the San Jose State University campus, located on the 80 block of East San Carlos Street. According to police, two adult male suspects brandished firearms and robbed the male victim of thousands of dollars. After the incident, the victim fled on foot and contacted law enforcement.
The department’s robbery unit began investigating the case and later connected one of the suspects to a separate assault investigation involving a firearm, which occurred on February 6, 2025, at the same residence. Police positively identified the suspect as 19-year-old Yonatan Petros, a San Jose resident.
An arrest warrant was issued for Petros, and a search warrant was served at his residences in both San Jose and San Leandro. On Thursday, San Jose police detectives, alongside officers from the department’s covert response unit, arrested Petros. During a search of his San Jose home, authorities discovered and seized an unregistered firearm.
Petros has been booked into the Santa Clara County Main Jail on charges of armed robbery and assault with a deadly weapon. Police noted that the second suspect in the January robbery remains unidentified and is still at large.
