A suspect has been arrested in connection with a Dec. 5 shooting in Tampa that left one person dead and two others injured, according to the Tampa Police Department.

Michael Horace-Fleming, 24, faces multiple charges stemming from the deadly incident, which occurred at a residence in the 1700 block of East Sitka Street near Elmer Street.

Authorities reported that all three victims were hospitalized with “upper body trauma.” A 28-year-old man succumbed to his injuries days after the shooting, while the other two victims have since been discharged from the hospital.

On Tuesday, the Tampa Police Fugitive Apprehension Unit, in collaboration with the U.S. Marshals Task Force, arrested Horace-Fleming at his home in Temple Terrace. During the arrest, officers discovered a Glock 23 firearm in the suspect’s car, believed to be the weapon used in the shooting.

Horace-Fleming is facing charges that include first-degree murder, two counts of aggravated battery causing great bodily harm, possession of a firearm by a felon, and discharging a firearm into or within a building. He is currently detained at the Orient Road Jail, according to officials.

Tampa Police Chief Lee Bercaw commended the swift actions of the investigators involved in the case.

“This arrest brings a measure of justice to the victims of this senseless act of violence,” said Chief Bercaw. “Our city is safer with this dangerous suspect off the streets. I commend the dedication and tireless work of our detectives, the U.S. Marshals Task Force, and all those who contributed to this investigation and apprehension.”

The investigation remains active, as detectives work to identify and interview a second individual reportedly seen at the time of the shooting.
