In a chilling incident from Odisha’s Jagatsinghpur district, 26-year-old Suryakant Sethi has been arrested for the brutal murder of his father, mother, and sister. The killings took place late Tuesday night inside the family’s residence.
According to the police, Suryakant used a metal rod to fatally assault all three victims. Preliminary investigations suggest the accused was intoxicated and mentally unstable at the time of the crime. Neighbours reported hearing a loud altercation around midnight, which is believed to have escalated into the violent attack.
The bodies were discovered early Wednesday morning after a neighbour noticed blood seeping from the house and immediately alerted authorities.
Jagatsinghpur SP Bhawani Dankar Udgata stated, “We reached the spot along with a forensic team. Suryakant Sethi, who appears mentally unwell, has murdered his father, mother, and sister. He has been taken into custody, and his relatives have been informed.”
The bodies will be sent for postmortem once other family members arrive. A full-scale investigation is underway to determine the exact motive and circumstances of the crime.
