In a significant crackdown in Maharashtra’s Thane district, police arrested three men for possessing counterfeit currency notes totaling Rs 30 lakh, officials said on Monday.
The seizure took place in the Bhiwandi area during the night of May 3. The accused have been identified as Suraj Shende (32), Bharat Sase (38), and Swapnil Patil (38).
Preliminary investigations suggest the trio may have printed the fake notes themselves. Authorities are now probing to locate the source of the printing operation and uncover any wider syndicate or network involved in distributing counterfeit currency.
The police are continuing their investigations to dismantle the entire operation and bring all involved parties to justice.
