Police on Thursday arrested a man and recovered the motorcycle used in the murder of 28-year-old Suraj Bihari, son of corn merchant Jawahar Yadav, in Purnia district of Bihar.
Suraj Bihari was shot dead on January 27 near Newalal Chowk, under the jurisdiction of Maranga police station. Preliminary investigations suggest that the killing was triggered by a dispute over a photograph posted on Instagram.
Police also arrested the owner of the motorcycle, identified as Vishal Kumar, a resident of Rajendra Vihar in Maranga. According to an official statement issued by Purnia Police, a joint team led by Deputy Superintendent of Police Mohammad Ali Sabri, along with personnel from the Special Operations Group (SOG) and Chita teams of the Bihar STF, recovered both the firearm used in the murder and the bike from Vishal’s possession.
“Efforts are underway to identify and apprehend all individuals involved in the crime,” the police statement said, adding that raids are continuing at multiple locations.
Police officials stated that further interrogation of the arrested accused is ongoing to uncover the complete sequence of events and the role of other suspects connected to the murder.
