A Sumter County woman was arrested after a deputy observed her discharging a handgun from a vehicle.
The incident occurred on March 16, 2025, around 2 a.m. when a Sumter County Sheriff’s Office deputy witnessed gunshots being fired from a vehicle near the intersection of Highway 378 and Cherryvale Drive.
Deputies initiated a felony traffic stop on the vehicle. Upon investigation, the driver, identified as Jada Mya Wise, admitted to firing the gun out of the vehicle window while driving. The firearm was retrieved from the vehicle and entered into evidence.
Wise was taken to the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office Detention Center and later released on a personal recognizance bond set at $257.50.
