Details of the Alleged Scheme
The investigation began in April 2024, when the owner of Platinum Cleaning reported suspected misuse of a company credit card by Stacy Stone, a former employee. According to the arrest affidavit, Stacy used the business card to send money via PayPal to herself, then transferred those funds to her husband’s PayPal account.
Investigators verified 54 transactions between the couple from March 2023 to April 2024, totaling $344,202.80. These charges, along with additional personal purchases, brought the theft amount well above $400,000.
Where the Money Went
In November 2022, $5,000 was used as a down payment on a 2022 Mitsubishi Outlander at Lewisville Mitsubishi.
Between November 2022 and March 2024, $11,937.66 was spent on personal insurance payments.
From April 2023 to April 2024, James Stone, who was not employed by the company, used the card to pay $10,818 to Titan Medical for services.
In April 2023, Stacy spent $3,629.84 at Conn’s Appliances.
In August 2023, she paid $3,316.64 at a Haslet orthodontist.
In October 2023, two charges totaling $6,905.28 were made at Resorts World Las Vegas Hotel.
The Stones allegedly used the company card extensively for personal expenses over a period of nearly two years, disguising purchases as legitimate transactions.
