On Friday, the Special Operations Teams (SOT), along with local police, dismantled two major drug trafficking networks in Meerpet and Hayathnagar, arresting eight individuals.

In the first operation, the SOT, along with Hayathnagar police, arrested seven people involved in smuggling marijuana from Odisha to Hyderabad. The arrested individuals, all residents of Hyderabad, are Nayini Shyam, K Chandu, B Rajesh Kumar, Ch Uday Kiran, D Raghavender, J Varun Kumar, and G Mahesh. They were accused of distributing the drug to local consumers.

In a separate case, SOT officials, alongside Meerpet police, apprehended B Narender Srinivas from Gurramguda, Meerpet. Srinivas had procured marijuana from Odisha at a low price and sold it at inflated rates to students and young people. Around 1.5 kg of marijuana was seized in this operation.

The total seizure in both cases amounted to 5.5 kg of marijuana, along with six mobile phones and three motorcycles. All arrested individuals and the confiscated material were handed over to local authorities for further legal action.

The Rachakonda police continue to investigate the networks of suppliers and consumers involved in these illegal drug trades. Efforts are also underway to locate and apprehend other individuals linked to the smuggling operations, including a key figure named Arjun from Malkangiri, Odisha.
