SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. — Six people have been arrested for allegedly being part of a prolific retail theft crew that targeted Safeway stores in San Francisco and Oakland, police said Thursday.

According to San Francisco Interim Police Chief Paul Yep, the arrests followed a months-long investigation into at least 26 theft incidents. The crew allegedly stole over $52,000 in merchandise and caused approximately $6,400 in store damage, primarily targeting alcohol.

Key Arrests:

Kevin Lavender and Frederick Dozier were arrested Oct. 28 after allegedly burglarizing a business on Irving Street in San Francisco. Police recovered over $5,000 in stolen alcohol. Firearms, including a pistol and assault rifle, were also found at a residence connected to the pair. Lavender faces 50+ charges, including commercial burglary, grand theft, robbery, felony vandalism, organized retail theft, and possession of a machine gun. Dozier faces 37 counts, including commercial burglary, grand theft, robbery, felony vandalism, and possession of an assault weapon.

Kel Lavender and Kewhum Allen were arrested for similar charges involving commercial burglary, grand theft, robbery, and vandalism.

Keana Allen was arrested Oct. 29 for felony burglary near Mission Street.

Tronshown Skyides, 21, was arrested Dec. 5 for commercial burglary, grand theft, organized retail theft, and firearm-related offenses. His bond is set at $500,000.

The San Francisco District Attorney’s Office was granted jurisdiction over the Oakland-related thefts. Investigations are ongoing, and authorities are asking anyone with information to contact SFPD at (415) 575-4444 or text TIP411 with “SFPD” at the start. Tips can be submitted anonymously.

Chief Yep emphasized, “SFPD will be relentless in investigating suspects who commit these crimes. We will continue to support our businesses and work with all law enforcement partners to stop these crews.”
