Six Arrested in Rs56 Lakh Scam Involving Chartered Accountant Grishma Reddy

South East Division Cyber Crime Police Nab Gang in December Fraud

In a breakthrough operation, the South East Division Cyber Crime Police arrested a gang of six individuals, including Grishma Reddy, a chartered accountant (CA), for defrauding an accountant from a private firm of ₹56 lakh. The scam took place on December 6, 2024.

The arrested individuals are:

Grishma Reddy (23), a chartered accountant, also working as an assistant director and scriptwriter for a Telugu film.

N. Dinesh (24), a chartered accountant.

V.A. Pawan Kumar (24), another chartered accountant.

Sharath M.S. (23), a B. Com graduate and cab driver.

N. Sai Kumar (22), a B. Com graduate.

Yenumala (32), a pre-university dropout, working as an assistant director for a Telugu film.

The accused had meticulously planned the fraud, targeting the victim through a combination of deceitful methods, which ultimately resulted in them stealing a substantial sum of Rs56 lakh.

According to the police, the victim, an accountant working in a private firm, was duped into transferring the money into bank accounts controlled by the accused, under the pretense of legitimate transactions.

The police swiftly tracked down the culprits, and their arrest has provided a significant relief to the victim. Investigations are ongoing, and authorities are probing further connections to uncover any other potential fraudulent activities linked to the gang.

The case sheds light on how cybercriminals are increasingly involving professionals from different sectors in their operations, using trusted positions to carry out fraudulent schemes.
