Police arrested six individuals following multiple gunfights linked to the robbery of over Rs 8 lakh from a cashier of an ice cream company in Kavi Nagar. Two accused, including the company clerk who initially reported the crime, were employees of the firm.
On Monday, Amit Kumar was en route to deposit Rs 8.15 lakh at a Rajnagar bank when two assailants on a bike approached him under the Nehru Nagar flyover. The attackers threw chili powder in his eyes, threatened him with a weapon, and fled with the bag of money. The employer promptly filed a complaint, and an FIR was registered under BNS section 309 (4) for robbery against unknown suspects.
DCP (City) Dhawal Jaiswal stated that Kavi Nagar police, aided by a SWAT team from the Crime Branch, arrested Suraj Yadav (23) of Lal Kuan, Nitin Kumar (20) of Hapur, and Manish Singh (24) of Wave City after a gunfight. Police recovered Rs 4.3 lakh and three pistols with live and spent cartridges. Suraj and Nitin sustained gunshot wounds to their legs during the encounter.
Two others, Ankush alias Kale (20) from Masuri village and Brijesh Kumar (24) from Hapur, initially escaped but were later arrested near Bunkar Mart by Madhuban Bapudham police. Authorities seized Rs 1 lakh, illegal weapons, and the motorcycle used in the robbery from them.
During interrogation, the accused revealed the clerk Amit Kumar’s involvement in the crime. Amit and Manish Singh, cousins, both worked at the ice cream company and had colluded to steal the money Amit was supposed to deposit at the bank.
