Mangaluru police arrested six individuals in two separate operations for allegedly selling drugs, including MDMA, hydro weed, and ganja, to college students and women in the city. Two cars used in the operations were also seized.
In the first case, registered under the NDPS Act at Mangaluru South police station, four accused were apprehended: Mohammed Sayyed Afridi (26), Ahmed Ali Arshan (22) of Koteshwar, Udupi district (residing in Pandeshwar, Mangaluru), Maqsood Saag (23) of Balmata, Mangaluru, and Felix P Joseph (20) from Kottayam, Kerala. Acting on a tip-off, police raided a lodge on Badriya Road where the accused allegedly sold MDMA and hydro weed to students and women.
In a second case registered at Mangaluru North police station, two persons were arrested: Adal Roche (33) of Kankanady, Mangaluru, and Aaron Vishal Lasrado (18) of Mallikatte, Kadri. Investigations indicate that Sandeep Shetty, a hotel manager from Mumbai based in Dubai, may have supplied hydro weed from Bengaluru, which Roche and Lasrado then distributed to Afridi and Arshan through Maqsood Saag.
The police emphasized that these arrests are part of ongoing efforts to curb drug trafficking in Mangaluru, particularly targeting young adults and college students. Further investigations are underway to identify additional links in the supply chain.
