A Sioux City man has been arrested after a three-year investigation into a stolen 2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee in Sheldon, Iowa.

Dalton Royce Goodman, 29, was arrested on March 8, 2025, around 3 a.m. on an O’Brien County warrant for second-degree theft. The arrest stems from an incident on August 23, 2020, when the Jeep was reported stolen from the parking lot of Immanuel Reformed Church in Sheldon.

Later that morning, Goodman was found in possession of the stolen Jeep in Spencer, Iowa. Police discovered that the Jeep’s front license plate had been removed. Additionally, a stolen Ford pickup was recovered near the location where the Jeep had been taken, with property from the stolen Ford found inside the Jeep.

A warrant for Goodman’s arrest was issued on September 3, 2020. He now faces second-degree theft charges, which involve stolen property valued between $1,501 and $10,000.

Authorities have not yet provided further details regarding the case, and Goodman is currently being held in custody pending further legal proceedings.
