A 16-year-old girl, Siddhi Kumari, and her uncle, Pawan Kumar (44), were critically injured in a firing incident on Road No. 6, in the Gardanibagh police station area of Patna late on Thursday night. Both victims are currently undergoing treatment at Patna Medical College and Hospital and are said to be out of danger, according to police reports on Friday.
The suspect, identified as Shuvam Singh, alias Himanshu, was arrested in connection with the incident. Singh, a resident of Saristabad, was seen firing shots from two pistols during the altercation and has a history of criminal activities, police officials revealed.
An FIR has been filed against Singh, based on the statement of Siddhi Kumari. During the investigation, police seized two country-made pistols, 15 live cartridges, five empty bullet shells, and a car from the crime scene.
Anu Kumari, the Secretariat-2 Subdivisional Police Officer, mentioned that police had received reports of Singh creating a disturbance in the Gardanibagh area by hurling abusive language at locals late Thursday night. When the locals attempted to intervene, Singh pulled out his pistols and opened fire. The Gardanibagh police acted quickly, arriving at the scene and arresting Singh.
The police are continuing their investigation into the incident.
