In a significant blow to narcotics and arms trafficking, the Jalandhar Commissionerate Police have dismantled a major drug network, recovering 13 kilograms of heroin, two illegal pistols, six live cartridges, three luxury vehicles, and Rs22,000 in drug proceeds.
The operation began with the arrest of Shivam Sodhi alias Shiva, who was caught with 5 kilograms of heroin. Following his interrogation, police swiftly acted on fresh leads and apprehended his associate Barinder Singh alias Babbu in Phagwara.
Barinder’s arrest led to the recovery of another 1 kilogram of heroin, two illegal .32 bore pistols, and six rounds of live ammunition. Further raids connected to the network brought the total heroin seizure to 13 kilograms.
Police stated that the narcotics and weapons were part of a larger smuggling operation, with the accused using high-end vehicles to avoid suspicion. The luxury cars seized are under forensic inspection.
Officials confirmed that investigations are ongoing and more arrests are expected as they continue to dismantle the broader criminal syndicate.
