A domestic help has been arrested in southwest Delhi for allegedly stealing Rs4.45 lakh from his employer’s residence, officials confirmed on Friday.
The accused, identified as Shivam Saxena, had been employed at the household for an extended period before reportedly fleeing with the cash on October 30. Following the incident, police registered an e-FIR and launched a detailed investigation.
Acting on a tip-off, investigators traced Saxena to Aligarh, where he was apprehended. During the arrest, authorities recovered Rs3.29 lakh in cash and goods worth Rs25,000 purchased using the stolen funds.
During interrogation, Saxena confessed to the theft, telling police that he acted out of financial stress and debt pressure. Police stated that further investigation is underway to determine if he had any accomplices or prior criminal involvement.
