In a major drug bust, seven people were arrested in Jhalawar district, Rajasthan, for possessing large quantities of ganja and synthetic drugs. The arrests took place in two separate incidents on Tuesday night, as local police disrupted a significant drug trafficking operation.
According to District Superintendent of Police (DSP) Amit Kumar, Dag police intercepted a truck carrying iron rods, only to discover 103.600 kg of ganja concealed underneath. The truck driver, Zaheer Khan (35), and his associate, Vinod Sharma (28), both from Jhalawar’s Jhalrapatan area, were arrested at the scene.
Further investigation revealed that a luxury car was following the truck, likely acting as an escort to protect the drug shipment. Inside the car, police apprehended Pirulal Malviya (34), a resident of Rajgarh, Madhya Pradesh, and Anwar alias Annu (29), from Jhalrapatan. Malviya was carrying an Indian Army ID card, which he allegedly used to bypass police checkpoints and alert his network.
Meanwhile, in a separate operation, Jhalrapatan police intercepted a car with no number plate during routine patrols. Inside the vehicle, they found 1.57 grams of synthetic drug MDMA. The arrested individuals were identified as Imran alias Ashu Paya (from Ramganj Mandi, Kota), Kalu alias Sheikh Shahrukh (from Ramganj Mandi, Kota), and Azhar (from Ramganj Mandi, Kota).
During questioning, the trio revealed they had purchased 100 grams of MDMA for Rs 45,000 from Parmanand Gurjar alias Panda, who fled the scene as soon as he saw the police. Authorities are now on the lookout for Gurjar, who remains at large.
The investigation is ongoing as police continue to unravel the broader drug network in the region.
