Seth McCallum Arrested for Attempted Stabbing and Vehicle Theft in Portland

33-Year-Old Portland Man Faces Multiple Charges After Robbery Attempt

PORTLAND, Maine (WGME) — A Portland man has been charged after attempting to stab a person and then stealing their vehicle on Wednesday night.

Police responded to a report of a vehicle theft and attempted stabbing near Commercial and High Streets just before 9 p.m. When officers arrived, witnesses pointed out 33-year-old Seth McCallum, who was holding a knife. McCallum was promptly taken into custody.

Witnesses told police McCallum attempted to stab the victim before stealing the vehicle and driving a short distance. Authorities say he caused damage to the vehicle, including slashing two of its tires. Thankfully, no one was injured during the incident.

McCallum faces multiple charges, including robbery, criminal threatening with a dangerous weapon, aggravated criminal mischief, theft by unauthorized use of property, and interference with constitutional rights. He was transported to Cumberland County Jail for further processing.
