HILO, Hawaii – Seanson Marpel, 22, has been arrested and charged with 19 offenses, including armed robbery and identity theft, following an incident outside Wailoa Grill in Hilo. Marpel allegedly used a sword-like weapon during the crime and was later found in possession of stolen credit cards belonging to two individuals.
Court Appearance & Bail
Marpel appeared in Hilo District Court last week, where prosecutors pushed for an increased bail amount, but the court upheld it at $80,400. He is scheduled for a preliminary hearing on March 4.
Charges & Potential Sentences
Marpel faces charges including:
Robbery in the First Degree (Class A felony, up to 20 years in prison)
Assault, Theft, Terroristic Threatening, Identity Theft, and Fraudulent Use of a Credit Card (Class C felonies, up to 5 years in prison or probation with jail time)
Promoting a Dangerous Drug in the Third Degree
Despite these allegations, Marpel remains innocent until proven guilty. Deputy Prosecuting Attorney Woodrow Pengelly is handling the case.
