Clovis police have arrested Sean Byer, 37, in connection with a large organized retail theft ring, recovering nearly $20,000 in stolen merchandise. The ongoing investigation spans multiple stores in Clovis and Fresno.
Authorities executed a search warrant at a Clovis residence on Wednesday, uncovering evidence linking Byer to the theft ring. Police say the suspects targeted stores such as Target, Best Buy, Dick’s Sporting Goods, Harbor Freight, and Guitar Center during the summer months.
The stolen items were reportedly sold to a local Clovis business, Cell Now. Detectives visited the Cell Now location at Ashlan and Fowler avenues, where employees cooperated fully, surrendering nearly $20,000 worth of stolen goods.
While Byer is in custody facing multiple felony charges, police continue their search for Daniel Duncan, 45, from Pennsylvania, who is wanted on several local arrest warrants tied to the theft cases.
During the first half of 2025, Clovis police investigated 333 organized retail theft cases and made 247 arrests, highlighting the ongoing efforts to combat retail crime in the area.
