WILLIMANTIC, Conn. (WFSB) – Two men are facing serious charges after police uncovered a stash of fentanyl and crack cocaine during a traffic stop in Willimantic.

Police say the illegal drug sales were taking place near Friendship Street and Ash Street. Officers stopped the suspects’ vehicle, but the driver attempted to flee behind a house, tossing fentanyl as he ran. After a brief chase, officers were able to take him into custody.

During a search of the vehicle, authorities recovered 200 bags of fentanyl and crack cocaine. Investigators also discovered that both suspects — 66-year-old Sean Mcnee and 59-year-old Thomas Mcnee — are convicted felons. A weapon found in their possession was seized by police.

Both men were charged with multiple offenses, including possession with intent to sell and operation of a drug factory.

Sean Mcnee was scheduled to appear in court on Monday, while Thomas Mcnee is set to appear on September 16.

Police say the arrests are part of an ongoing effort to combat drug activity in the Willimantic area.
