LEWISTON, ID — A 61-year-old Clarkston man, Scott L. Snodderly, was arrested early Wednesday morning after Lewiston Police found him driving a stolen SUV.
According to court records filed in Nez Perce County, the incident occurred around 2:05 a.m. near the Stinker Station on 22nd Street North. Officers initiated a traffic stop after Snodderly allegedly failed to come to a complete stop while exiting the gas station.
Upon questioning, Snodderly told officers he didn’t have a driver’s license and was unable to provide registration for the silver Toyota 4Runner he was driving. He reportedly claimed that he and his girlfriend had recently purchased the vehicle, adding that he would need to ask her who it was registered to since he had been in prison at the time of the purchase.
Dispatch later confirmed the vehicle had been reported stolen on August 24 by its registered owner.
Snodderly was taken into custody at the scene and booked into the Nez Perce County Jail. He now faces felony charges of grand theft by possessing stolen property, along with a misdemeanor charge for driving without privileges.
Authorities also noted that the SUV was packed with personal belongings when recovered.
Snodderly’s initial court appearance was scheduled for later the same day.
