Alappuzha police have arrested Sainulabdeen (43) and his wife Aneesha in connection with the murder of Hamlath (62), who lived alone in Ottappana near Thotappally.
Hamlath was found dead in her bedroom on August 17. Initially, the investigation led to the arrest of a local resident, Abubacker, on charges of rape and murder. However, further inquiries revealed that the actual perpetrators were Sainulabdeen and Aneesha.
Police stated that the couple committed the crime during a burglary attempt. Both accused have now been taken into custody and are being interrogated as the investigation continues. Authorities confirmed that they are gathering evidence to determine the full circumstances behind the shocking crime.
