Sahakarnagar police have arrested two men in connection with a robbery targeting a doctor in the area, which occurred after the victim was lured under the pretext of a home medical visit.
The accused have been identified as Gaurang Kiran Desai (25), a call centre employee from Katraj, and Shubham Umesh Shinde (28), a resident of Kondhwa.
Police said that on January 1, the doctor received a call from two unidentified individuals claiming their mother was unwell and requesting a home medical visit. The doctor arrived at Atharv Farihaj Building near a Honda showroom on Pune–Satara Road, where the accused took advantage of darkness to threaten him with a knife and rob him.
The suspects stole the doctor’s BMW motorcycle, mobile phone, a silver jug, and cash, totaling ₹4,50,200. Following the complaint, a case was registered at Sahakarnagar police station under Sections 309(6) and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
A special investigation team used CCTV footage and technical analysis to identify and arrest Desai and Shinde. Police recovered stolen property worth ₹4,21,740, including the BMW motorcycle, mobile phone, cash, and silver jug.
Further investigation revealed that the accused had used mobile phones and SIM cards from other states to plan and execute the crime. Authorities said the robbery was carefully calculated, and its resolution demonstrates the effective coordination of Sahakarnagar police under the guidance of senior officials, including Inspector Vitthal Pawar and Inspector (Crime) Jayant Rajurkar.
Personnel involved in the operation included PSI Ganesh Karche, PSI Saddam Fakir, and police staff Bapusahaeb Khutwad, Amol Pawar, Chandrakant Jadhav, Kiran Kamble, Nilesh Shivtare, Abhiman Baglane, Sagar Sutkar, Akash Kirtikar, Amit Padmale, Mahesh Bhagat, Yogesh Dhole, Maruti Nalwad, and Rafiq Tadvi.
