Rebecca Muckey, Luke Simkins Charged in $50K Theft Case

Stolen Construction Tools, Trailers Recovered in Knox Co.

KNOX COUNTY, Ill. — Two individuals have been charged after stealing a trailer loaded with construction equipment valued at $50,000 from a job site near Victoria, Illinois, on August 19.

According to the Knox County Sheriff’s Office, Rebecca Muckey (37) and Luke Simkins (39), both from Galesburg, were arrested after being found hiding inside a home on the 1600 block of Beecher Avenue.

Detectives located several of the stolen tools in Galesburg. The enclosed trailer and flatbed trailer were later discovered in a remote area outside Victoria. A stolen vehicle allegedly used in the burglary was also recovered and returned to its rightful owner.

Both Muckey and Simkins were charged with the following felonies:

Theft ($10,000–$100,000)

Possession of Stolen Property

Possession of Methamphetamine

Theft ($500–$10,000)

Arson

The investigation is ongoing, and authorities credit collaborative law enforcement work in recovering the stolen property.
