LAKE WALES, Fla. — A 23-year-old man is in custody after allegedly firing multiple gunshots outside a Lake Wales apartment complex during a dispute stemming from online comments, police said.
The incident occurred around 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Lake Wales Garden Apartments. According to the Lake Wales Police Department, Rashad Mullings became upset over an online argument and tracked down the person involved. Upon arriving at the complex, he reportedly exited his vehicle, retrieved a firearm from the backseat, and fired three rounds before fleeing the scene.
Fortunately, no injuries were reported.
Officers located Mullings’ vehicle around 10 a.m. Wednesday on Dr. J.A. Wiltshire Avenue and pulled him over. He was taken into custody without incident.
Mullings faces multiple charges, including attempted first-degree murder, discharging a firearm in a residential area, unlawful use of a two-way communication device, and violation of probation. Authorities confirmed he is currently on probation for a prior armed burglary conviction.
