Rajkumar Maurya Held in Rs16.5 Cr Crypto Scam Bust

Fake coin BSG used to dupe investors via MLM tactics

by Ananya Mehta

In a major breakthrough, the cybercrime police arrested three individuals, including the mastermind Rajkumar Maurya, in connection with a Rs16.5 crore cryptocurrency scam that duped hundreds of unsuspecting investors.

The accused have been identified as:

Rajkumar Maurya – Buddha Vihar Colony, Badaun

Arjun Sharma – Unwan, Unnao

Danish Khan – Golaghat, Varanasi

According to DCP Saravanan T, the trio created fake cryptocurrency websites — busdglobal.com and mbsgworld.com — and launched a counterfeit token named BSG. The token was briefly listed on the Vendex exchange, where they ran an aggressive multi-level marketing (MLM) campaign promising high returns, referral bonuses, and early-bird profits.

Initially, investors received small payouts to build trust. Once they accumulated large investments, the scammers delisted the token, shut down the websites, and vanished with the funds.

A complaint was registered by Raj Kumar of Ramnagar on May 14, stating he and others were defrauded of Rs16.5 crore. So far, seven out of eight accused have been arrested, with police continuing raids in Sonbhadra, Lucknow, and Muzaffarnagar to apprehend the remaining suspect.

Authorities recovered:

5 mobile phones

2 laptops

Rs98,000 in cash

Additional digital evidence

Police have urged victims to come forward and warned the public to avoid unregulated investment schemes.
